Experiments on Single-Phase Nanofluid Heat Transfer Mechanisms in Microchannel Heat Sinks: A Review

For more than 20 years, the use of nanofluids to enhance heat transfer in microchannel sinks (MCHSs) has been subject a large number scientific articles. Despite great potentialities reported several works, presence controversial results and lack understanding enhancement mechanisms prevent further advancement as coolants. This article reviews literature focused on aspects that have role within MCHSs: nanofluid stability, thermal conductivity, particle clustering, well particle–surface interactions, i.e., abrasion, erosion, corrosion. We also include most relevant works convective MCHSs operated with our review.
